---------------------------------
The 3rd Convention aims to reflect on the challenges ahead, in the light of the studies of Oliver Wyman (to be launched at the occasion of the 3rd Convention) and the IMF Report on co-operative banks in Europe (July 2007), which tackle governance issues as well as threats and opportunities for our banks in the 21st century. Co-operative banks tradition origins in the past century, does the (governance) model remain valid and how will it develop in the future? How do co-operative banks see themselves and how do they see the shape of EU banking and legislative framework in the new century? What is their contribution for European consumers? Co-operative banks, policy makers and high level managers will discuss their concerns and future perspectives of the European banking landscape at the presence of International Organisations, European Institutions, consulting companies, academics, rating agencies and relevant stakeholders.
The objective is to raise awareness on current challenges for co-operative banks on policy issues and beyond, by demonstrating the modernity of our business model and analyse the changing banking landscape, highlighting the role of co-operative banks as asset customers at local level.
